Client Agreement Between Coach and Coachee

COACHING PACKAGE

This package includes live coaching sessions, recommendations for practices between calls, and unlimited access to email support.

This agreement will begin upon acceptance.  The coachee agrees to pay the invoices upon receipt regardless of whether sessions must be rescheduled beyond the current month.

AGREEMENTS

TIME

  • We agree to be on time for our sessions to honor each other’s time. Time is a precious commodity for both of us—when we schedule sessions, we make an unwavering commitment.

  • I am flexible if you need to reschedule your session and I request at least 24 hours' notice so that I may make that time available to others. Barring emergencies, you will be charged for missed calls or in-person sessions without a 24-hour notice.

BOUNDARIES OF COACHING RELATIONSHIP

  • You understand that “coaching” is a Professional-Client relationship you have with me that is designed to facilitate the development of personal, professional, or business goals and to develop and carry out a plan for achieving those goals. You acknowledge that deciding how to incorporate coaching in your life and implement your choices is exclusively your responsibility. At all times, I provide my best efforts, however, coaching results are not guaranteed.  You are responsible for creating personal results.

  • You understand that coaching is not to be used as a substitute for professional advice by legal, medical, financial, business, or other qualified professionals. You will seek independent professional guidance for legal, medical, financial, business, or other matters. You understand that all decisions in these areas are exclusively yours and you acknowledge that your decisions and your actions regarding them are your sole responsibility.

  • The coaching relationship is in no way to be construed as psychological counseling or any type of therapy.  In the event that you feel the need for professional counseling or therapy, I will support you in seeking a licensed professional. You promise that if you are currently in therapy or otherwise under the care of a mental health professional, you have consulted with the mental health care provider regarding the advisability of working with a coach and that this person is aware of your decision to proceed with the coaching relationship.

HOW TO GET THE MOST VALUE FROM OUR WORK TOGETHER

  • You agree to focus on what’s working and how you’re growing versus solving problems. You provide the topic(s) which will be the focus of the session and create value for yourself by taking action between sessions. You make your own decisions; I offer processes for creating insight, my observations, honest feedback, and teachings as they seem useful.

  • You agree to let me know if I ever say or do something that upsets you or doesn't feel right.  Honesty and trust are critical for our relationship to grow. I want this to be an open and safe space for you.

  • You agree to be open to receiving feedback and experimenting with new actions, behaviors, and strategies to create the results you want.

  • When we meet remotely, you agree to make your coaching time sacred—to make calls from a quiet, private place where you can be present to receive maximum value (e.g., no calls from a cell phone while driving).

  • The sustainable benefits of coaching typically result from consistent action taken over time.  In most cases, I recommend a 3-month engagement, meeting at least twice per month.  Sessions may be conducted in person or via phone or videoconference.  When we decide to end the coaching process, a session for closure is recommended.  If we decide it would be helpful to work together beyond the 3-month window, we will start this new period with an evaluation of goals and agreements.

CONFIDENTIALITY

  • You understand that our coaching relationship is completely confidential, within the limits of the law. I recognize that you may disclose plans, business affairs, and personal and financial information. I will not at any time share this information with a third party. I will not divulge that we are in a coaching relationship without your permission unless otherwise agreed upon by you.  You, of course, are free to discuss our coaching relationship with whomever you want.

  • As a teacher and coach, I sometimes talk about issues that clients in my practice have experienced if I deem this to be helpful to others. This is always done without sharing a client’s name.

COMMUNICATION AND FEEDBACK

  • I agree to respond to e-mail within 48 hours (often sooner) on weekdays.  If you have a more urgent need for feedback from me, please indicate “urgent” in the subject line.

  • I welcome feedback anytime during our work together.  At the end of the coaching engagement, I will ask you to provide additional feedback and an optional testimonial through a survey.

WAIVE AND HOLD HARMLESS

  • As the client, you waive and release the coach from any claims that arise or result from the coach’s services.

By scheduling coaching sessions with me, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to the terms of the Client Agreement.
